Watch This Epic Retelling Of Luke Skywalker’s Journey To The Last Jedi

George Lucas’ original Star Wars trilogy balanced many themes and storylines in an epic struggle between the forces of good and evil.

But at the heart of it all was the story of Luke Skywalker, a young farmer with aspirations to do good but an obligation to his family. After tragedy struck his home, Luke learned he had a greater destiny written in the stars and seized control, redeeming the sins of his father and saving the galaxy.

The legacy of Mark Hamill‘s character will be explored even further when Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters later this year, but in the meantime we can only reflect on the man he became after watching his journey over the course of three films.

The YouTube producers Heroes Fan Productions posted a new video recognizing Luke Skywalker‘s journey and legacy in honor of the Star Wars franchise’s 40th anniversary. Just under 10 minutes long, it chronicles the character’s path from Tatooine to the Ahch-To where he was found in the closing moments of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The Last Jedi promises to continue Luke’s journey in an intriguing and surprising direction, giving insight into his life after the destruction of the second Death Star and the death of his father.

This video is a helpful reminder of those pivotal moments that helped shaped a farmer into a Jedi Knight and, later, a Jedi Master.

We’ll learn more about Skywalker’s tale when Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres in theaters on December 15.
