Next year, Lucasfilm will be rolling out its second standalone Star Wars film, and the much-anticipated flick will focus on everyone’s favorite scoundrel. The yet-titled Han Solo movie is already filming with its star-studded cast, and Alden Ehrenreich was the actor chosen to bring a younger version of Han Solo to life. The leading man will be joined on-screen by the likes of Woody Harrelson and Donald Glover, but the latter stars could have worked with a very different actor.

Harry Styles may not be getting his theatrical debut until Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk premieres, but he was reportedly being eyed for an even bigger project. New reports have surfaced that Disney was once looking at Styles to play Han Solo for the pilot’s standalone feature.
Earlier today, Metro UK reported that sources had told them Styles was one of the early stars Disney looked into.
“Harry was one of the early names in contention when the studio looked at Han Solo,” the insider has admitted. “Even though he had virtually no acting experience, they saw he had huge star potential and would give the solo project enormous publicity.”
The source continued to say that Style even spoke with Disney about the role. However, the actor was already planning to kickstart his solo career as a singer, and his schedule made it “almost impossible to lock him down for the job.”
Ultimately, Disney was forced to remove Styles from its potential list of actors, allowing them to move forward with Ehrenreich. However, it seems like the studio is still keeping the One Direction superstar on its radar.
“There has been talk at Disney about having him come in again for other projects they are considering,” the insider stressed.
Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is filming now under directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for a May 25, 2018 release. Alden Ehrenreich stars as a young Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca in the era before Star Wars: A New Hope, before they met Leia and Luke and embarked on a galaxy-saving adventure. Donald Glover also stars as Lando Calrissian, with Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke in as-yet-unrevealed co-starring roles.
