Of all the announcements at the New York Toy Fair, including the many new figures coming in 2017 from Hasbro, one of the most exciting was of the Star Wars Black Series vintage 6-inch line in celebration of Star Wars 40th anniversary.

To celebrate these figures, Hasbro got some amazing fan photographers to contribute to a picture series unveiled at Toy Fair. The results are pretty stunning.
Many faithful recreations are depicted here, including some elaborate set designs, great posing, and better camera work.
There’s a little bit of post production involved, but the end results are amazing.

These figures will retail for $19.99 and will include the classic backcards reminiscent of the Kenner figures.
Expect them to hit stores later this spring.

Blksrsย recreated the iconic image fromย A New Hope with three of the protagonists of the series.
And Fathersfigures gets up close and personal with Princess Leia and her blaster.
While the use of blaster effects is notable, the points of articulation allow for some great poses with the figures. They might be a bit more advanced than those of the Kenner days, but it’s a welcome improvement.
If You Strike Me Down…
Both DarkSideSince77 and WorkMoreOrLessย chose to showcase the iconic duel between former Master and Padawan.
The stark white background, deft lighting effects, and reflections of WorkMoreOrLess’ photo capture the scene as frozen moment.
DarkSideSince77 takes a different approach.
His photo utilizes a great backdrop andย setting, but gives the action a sense of movement. The lightsaber slashes on the wall are a great touch.
Both photographersย deserve credit for their starkly different approaches toย the same battle.
She’s Royalty
Leiaย gets the spotlight in these two photos, with the top one also giving a good shot of R2-D2.
The droidย employs all of the details we’ve come to expect in the Black Series, featuring knobs, switches, and groves accurate to his portrayal on the film.
SgtBananas’ artisticย photo of Princess Leiaย shows some great detailing.
The cloth of her outfit shows you’re getting your money’s worth, but the facial features and texture of the figure’s hair show that it’s a truly remarkable figure.
GlowormPhotoย uses a great setting to recreate one of the most iconic visuals from the film, when Leiaย transfers the Death Star plans to R2-D2. Both are remarkable photos.
The Twin Suns of Tatooine
The top photo features another iconic scene recreated with these figures.
PlasticAction’s photo is another great display of the points of articulation on these figures, while giving us a good glimpse of C-3PO.
The great setting gives us a glimpse of Tatooine’s twin suns, mimicing another memorable scene from the film.
SwittPicsย provides a close up of Obi-Wan Kenobi before Vader delivers the fatal blow.
While the cloth robe is a nice touch, the figure shows the work that goes in to the texture of his clothing, as well as the details of his facial features. The painting on these figures looks immaculate.
Lord Vader
Both ForceDadPhotographyย and X_Captain_Kaos_X showcase the classic version of Darth Vader.
He employs the cape-and-robe look, the robe hooking under his belt and providing layers to the clothing.ย
Both photographersย use employย post-production work on the lightsabersย for added effect.
The textures on Vader’s suit and helmet make this one a must have.
Overall, these are some great figures and photos.
Although we wouldn’t mind seeing more Han Solo pictures…
