The team behind Scary Movie, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, is traveling to a galaxy far, far away for their next parody film. Star Worlds Episode XXXIVE=MC2: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Went Rogue is a Star Wars parody film that looks to take on, obviously, the most recent Star Wars films primarily, though everything in the franchise is likely fair game.

Friedberg and Seltzer are both writing and directing Star Worlds, and plan to shoot the film in Fall 2017. Covert Media and Broken Road Productions are producing, with Paul Hanson and Todd Garner respectively.

"Jason and Aaron are a powerhouse duo who have proven time and time again that they are fully tapped into the what audiences love," Hanson said in the announcement of the film on THR. "Their fearless take on pop culture has us beyond thrilled to tackle the world's most popular franchise with the two of them leading us into a galaxy far, far away."

Hopefully the entire movie will just be scenes from the main films, but starring Jar Jar Binks. Place your bets now.

Star Wars has of course been spoofed before, most notably in the theatrical release, Spaceballs from Mel Brooks. The 1987 film focused mostly on Star Wars, but also pulled in other scifi franchises of the day. A sequel has been teased since it came out, and was most recently talked about by Brooks in February 2015.

On television, Star Wars has been parodied several times, including extensive parodies from Robot Chicken, Family Guy, and Phineas and Ferb. The parodies tend to be handled with a surprising amount of care, and come from a place of love of the franchise from major fans.

Aside from the popular Scary Movie franchise, other parody franchises from Friedberg and Seltzer have had a harder time gaining fan or critical acclaim or box office success. Their most successful of their other spoofs was Date Movie, and they've also tried the formula with Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, Vampires Duck, Disaster Movie, The Starving Games, and Superfast.

Meanwhile, Star Wars has three more films currently on the schedule, with Star Wars: The Last Jedi in 2017, Han Solo in 2018, and Episode IX in 2019.
