Star Wars Rebellion is already a massive game with over 150 pieces spread across two large game boards. In it, players take control of the two dominant factions in the Star Wars galaxy in a war to increase their influence and defeat the enemy forces.
The latest addition adds new wrinkles to the gameplay with the inclusion of characters and missions inspired by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The board game might seem a little complex for those who haven’t played it, but it’s filled with climactic moments that capture the intergalactic struggle for peace and justice from the films.
Star Wars: Rebellion
The base game of Rebellion has players take on either the role of the Rebels or the Empire. The objectives to win the game change depending on which side the player takes.
For the Empire, they need to stamp out the Rebellion and find their hidden base in the vast, known galaxy. For the Rebels, they don’t have the military might of the Imperial forces, so they need to convince the different systems to join the fight against the Empire.
Players can use popular characters from Star Wars lore to help their cause, undertaking specific missions that invoke key storylines in order to bolster their achievements in the fight for galactic dominance.

Experience the Galactic Civil War like never before. In Star Warsโข: Rebellion, you control the entire Galactic Empire or the fledgling Rebel Alliance. You must command starships, account for troop movements, and rally systems to your cause. Featuring more than 150 plastic miniatures and two game boards that account for thirty-two of the Star Warsโข galaxy’s most notable systems, Star Warsโข: Rebellion features a scope that is as large and sweeping as any Star Warsโข game before it.
Yet for all its grandiosity, Star Warsโข: Rebellion remains intensely personal, cinematic, and heroic. As much as your success depends upon the strength of your starships, vehicles, and troops, it depends upon the individual efforts of such notable characters as Leia Organaโข, Mon Mothmaโข, Grand Moff Tarkinโข, and Emperor Palpatineโข. As civil war spreads throughout the galaxy, these leaders are invaluable to your efforts, and the secret missions they attempt will evoke many of the most inspiring moments from the classic trilogy. You might send Luke Skywalkerโข to receive Jedi training on Dagobahโข or have Darth Vaderโข spring a trap that freezes Han Soloโข in carbonite!
Rise of the Empire
The new Rise of the Empire expansion adds 30 new game pieces and eight leader characters, increasing the variety of gameplay.
Enabling players to steal the plans to the Death Star or send in a squadron of Deathtroopers to eradicate a threat, both Rebel and Imperial forces receive new missions and scenarios to help win the war.
Fans will be able to purchase the new expansion for $29.99 when it goes on sale later this year.
