There’s a template trailer editors use that seems to work without fail. Whenever you need to make a big, dramatic film resonate with viewers emotions without giving away the entire plot, a trailer can employ this two-minute plan to great effect.

It worked for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, its upcoming sequel in The Last Jedi, and it worked pretty well for Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel.

But sometimes that means they all look and sound the same, which allows for some neat tricks like this video from ScreenRant, which just takes the Superman movie’s audio and plays it over the Star Wars video.

The result is a surprising mashup that works really wellโ€”the music builds and matches the cuts, inciting the action. Even some of Diane Lane’s Martha Kent voice overs describe what’s happening on the screen, such as when she says “picture an island.”

The timing is down perfectly between the visuals and the fades to black, with the voice overs typically playing while a visual is on screen.

It all builds to that final line of dialogue spoken by Henry Cavill’s Superman, layered over the image of Luke Skywalker’s silhouette in the doorway.

So, is this proof that there’s some mathematical formula to make a trailer successful? Are these tricks to the trade of making a teaser resonate with potential movie goers? Well, probably. But it’s not always as simple as switching out the audio and video from similar clips.

Except in this case, it definitely is.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15.
