Star Wars: The Last Jedi is finally hitting theaters, and it's already taken out some distinguished competition.

That competition comes in the form of Disney's own Beauty and the Beast, which steamrolled over pretty much everything earlier this year. Among the many achievements it made during its run, it also locked the top spot as Fandango's biggest seller of the year.

While it lost the best seller spot, Beauty and the Beast still owns the top opening of 2017 at 174.8 million. Star Wars: The Last Jedi has a great chance to overtake it, at least if Star Wars: The Force Awakens is anything to go by. The J.J. Abrams-helmed film opened to over $247 million, going on to bring in over $936 million domestically. Worldwide it brought in over $2 billion mind you, so expectations are understandably high.

Lower estimates put The Last Jedi around $185 million opening weekend, while higher estimates put it somewhere in the $210 million range. Star Wars will hit 410 IMAX screens and 640 Premium Large Format screens, as well as 3600 3D screens and 212 D-Box theaters.

As for Beauty and the Beast, the film did quite well for Disney. It brought in over $504 million domestically, and worldwide it amassed box office of over $1.2 billion. It will lose the record for 2017 possibly, but Disney isn't crying over the film's performance.

Fandango released the numbers alongside a new survey that took opinions from more than 1000 Star Wars fans. You can view some highlights from the survey below.

96% are looking forward to seeing the late Carrie Fisher on the big screen.

94% can't wait to find out more about the relationship between Luke Skywalker & Rey.

83% say the new Porg creatures increased their interest in seeing the movie.

60% identify Benicio Del Toro as the new-to-Star Wars actor that fans are most excited to see in The Last Jedi.

Early reviews are also quite favorable, with some calling it the best Star Wars movie in the franchie, and you can read our full review of The Last Jedi here.

You can judge it for yousefelf, as The Last Jedi is now in theaters.
