On tonight’s episode of The Walking Dead, Negan treated Eugene much better than many expected. Instead of torturing the guy, like he did with Daryl, Negan gave Eugene anything he could ask for.
The new Sanctuary guest was given his own room, anything to eat, a video game system, and a night with some of Negan’s wives.
After being given all of that, it started to seem like Eugene was taking kindly to Negan’s ways. At one point, he even said those awful words, “I am Negan.”
What’s Eugene up to? Is he going to switch sides?
It’s hard to think Eugene would turn away from Rick, but look at where he is now. In the Sanctuary, he’s looked at like a man with power. People believe anything Eugene says, and he has found a new home where he can get his way. Back in Alexandria, he’s treated like he’s less than everyone else.
Especially by Rosita.
While Eugene can be a coward, he doesn’t seem to be disloyal. If the guy is acting this way, there’s a good chance he’s got something up his sleeve.
Most likely, Eugene is playing Negan just as he did Abraham. He knows how to lie effectively, and he’s going to use that tool to help bring Negan down in the end.
This may mean he makes fake bullets, and gets Negan’s army killed in the process. Or, he could be finding some other way to deliver Negan’s head back to Rick.
On the other hand, there’s a slight chance Eugene could be changing his allegiance. While Carl wasn’t impressed by Negan’s promises of power, Eugene sure is. He can live a long and comfrorable life in the Sanctuary.
Why not do it?
