When Eugene spent a night with Negan‘s wives in The Walking Dead’s Hostiles and Calamities episode, the mullet man turned down massages in favor of video games.

The video game Eugene Porter was seen playing is called Yars’ Revenge, a popular Atari game from the 1980’s. This game, however, might be loaded with major teases for events coming up on the AMC series and Rick and Negan prepare to go to war with one another.

In Yars’ Revenge, “The player controls an insect-like creature called a Yar who must nibble or shoot through a barrier in order to fire his Zorlon Cannon into the breach,” according to the game’s Wikipedia page. “The objective is to destroy the evil Qotile, which exists on the other side of the barrier. The Qotile can shoot at the Yar, even if the barrier is undamaged, by turning into the Swirl. The player is warned before the shot is fired, and he can retreat to a safe distance to dodge the enemy’s energy blast. The Yar can hide from a pursuing destroyer missile within a “neutral zone” in the middle of the screen, but the Yar cannot shoot while in the zone. The Swirl can kill the Yar anywhere, even inside the Neutral Zone.”

The parallels can be made in the initial bit of description, with Negan and the Saviors posing as the evil Qotile existing on the other side of the Sanctuary’s well protected walls with a neutral zone filled with walkers dividing them. The Saviors have been able to shoot at anybody in Alexandria at any time they want while the good guys have required more calculation in their efforts.

As for being warned before a shot is fired, fans of Rick Grimes and his band of survivors certainly hope that is a touch of foreshadowing with the war ahead. Given Dwight’s comic book arc and Austin Amelio’s recent sentiments, saying he hopes to see Dwight betray Negan, the good guys might get the inside information they need.

“To destroy the Qotile or the Swirl, the player has to either touch the Qotile or eat a piece of the shield to activate the Zorlon Cannon, aim the cannon by lining up with the Qotile or Swirl, then fire the cannon and fly out of the way of the cannon’s shot,” the description says.

The last bit of the description for Yars’ Revenge teases the dark fate of Holly from The Walking Dead comics. The ex-girlfriend of Abraham Ford was so bent of revenge against Negan that she sacrificed herself to break down the Sanctuary’s barriers. Will Sasha see the same fate, having filled out much of Holly’s role on the TV series already?
