Ofelia Salazar is finally primed for a comeback on Fear the Walking Dead, having been missing for half of the show’s third season.
In a new preview for Fear the Walking Dead‘s two-hour midseason finale set to air on Sunday night, the fate of Ofelia has finally been revealed. In fact, it may be worse than death by some standards. She is aligned with the show’s new villain, Walker, and his Native American group.
Furthermore, it appears her face has been scarred. Get a look at Ofelia’s return in the preview at the top of the page at the 0:18-0:19 mark!
Ofelia ending up with Walker and his group sets up an interesting conflict for Madison and the Clark family who have clearly aligned themselves with the Otto family and Broke Jaw Ranch.
“They’re on the wrong side,” Alicia tells Madison in the new preview, possibly in reference to Ofelia and Daniel who has been searching for her since returning in Fear the Walking Dead‘s Episode 3×03. Madison, however, shows no sympathy, responding, “Sides don’t matter.”
Jeremiah Otto
The last time fans saw Ofelia was in Fear the Walking Dead‘s Season 2 finale. She had left the hotel with the group’s pick-up truck, thinking her father dead and going on a solo mission with a small hope of reuniting with her pre-apocalyptic ex-fiance.ย
Given the mystery surrounding the Otto family and Broke Jaw Ranch, some viewers suspect Jeremiah of having Ofelia as a hostage hidden somewhere on the land. Jeremiah actor Dayton Callie firmly debunked this rumor.
“I found her in the desert,” Jeremiah Otto actor Dayton Callie said. “Took her and had a brief conversation with her and left her in the desert to die, or not die. It’s up to her, whatever she is. So, I’m not holding her hostage or anything so people can rest assured of that, but whether someone else has her, that’s not my business. I kind of vetted her out in the desert and decided she’s better off in the desert than back at the camp.”
The Female Villain?
Prior to Season 3’s start, showrunner Dave Erickson promised a female villain would be coming to the AMC series. “There’s gonna be a new prominent character, who we’re gonna meet south of the border, who is going to have an impact on Nick and Luciana, and Strand most likely,” Erickson reveals. “She will become somebody, I think, who can rival any of the powerful characters we’ve had on the show or will have on the show. The idea is to create opposing forces on either side of the border and see what happens when they end up in conflict and what happens if our family is on opposite sides of the conflict.”
This female villain, along with Ofelia, has yet to make an appearance on Fear the Walking Dead. We know Ofelia actress Mercedes Mason will be returning to the series, as set photos have been published to her social media channels throughout production, but we have no idea when or how she will resurface. We have no reason to believe an actress has been cast for a new role, though.
Could Ofelia be the new villain of Fear the Walking Dead? The woman who started as a sweet, innocent and humble daughter to Daniel Salazar? It’s entirely possible, especially considering the darkness already hidden in her family by father Daniel Salazar.
Message from Mercedes
During Talking Dead, Ofelia Salazar actress Mercedes Mason sent a message for fans, using notecards in the same vein of Andrew Lincoln’s iconic Love Actually scene.
“It’s me again,” the cards read.ย “Justย sitting here. All alone. Wondering… Where the f—- is Ofelia? Is she infected? Hassheย found the cure? Let us know what you think. #WhereIsOfelia”
The hashtagย has already prompted hundreds of responses from fans regarding Ofelia’s location, however, it appears it will be revealed in just one week’s time.ย
