Rick and Morty solidified its place as a pop-culture phenomenon by doing the near-impossible: swaying the almighty hand of McDonald’s!
Videos by ComicBook.com
One crazy running gag in the Rick and Morty season 3 premiere had to do with Rick re-visiting his own memory, with a detour to a local McDonald’s for some of the Szechaun sauce the fast-food chain released in promotion of Disney’s Mulan, back in 1998. At the end of the episode, Rick goes on a rant about his ambition to get his hands on some that “Mulan McNugget sauce,” a sentiment that fans echoed all throughout season 3’s run.
Well, McDonald’s brought back the Szechaun sauce for a 1-day limited run, but eager fans have depleted the supplies with lighting speed, leading to all kinds of upset consumers, and eBay bidding wars. Check how upset some Rick and Morty fans actually are about not getting that sweet Mulan sauce…
All Apologies
McDonald’s is trying to put a fan-friendly spin on why its locations can no longer provided the Szechaunย sauce as advertised:ย
The best fans in the multiverse showed us what they got today. We hear you & we’re sorry not everyone could get some super-limited Szechuan.

Hell of Your Own Making
As some fans point out, McDonald’s is just messing up its own opportunity, while also making life hell for its employees:ย
@mcdonalds was gifted a phenomenon of pop culture and squandered it by letting thousands of people walk away empty handed. #SzechuanSauce

Nintendo’s Fault
We’re not sure how this makes sense, but one fan used the McDonald’s incident as a perfect opportunity to throw shade at McDonald’s:ย
Went to @mcdonalds for #szechuansauce was told they got only 10 packets they were gone Who’s doing their supply logistics @NintendoAmerica ?

At the end of the day, sh*t rolls down hill, and it doesn’t get any more “down hill” than Jerry.ย
