The Spongebob Squarepants Musical made quite an impression at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, especially on social media.

The cast of the Broadway adaptation of Spongebob occupied a full float during Macy's annual festivities, which if you don't know features a cast of human interpretations of the characters as opposed to fully costumed recreations of the originals.

It seems the internet wasn't having it though, as many of the reactions seem to have an issue with the human Spongebob.

Others just can't get their minds around a Spongebob musical as an overall concept.

It will be interesting to see how the musical does when it debuts on Broadway, as there are assuredly those who want to see it in action. Still, not the best first impression evidently.

The Spongebob Squarepants Musical is directed by Tina Landau, and features original music from Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Lady Antebellum, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, They Might Be Giants, and more, including songs from David Bowie.

The musical stars Ethan Slater, Gavin Lee, Lilli Cooper, Brian Ray Norris, Danny Skinner, and Wesley Taylor just to name a few, and you can see them in action on Broadway now.
