Scream. SLC Punk. Scooby Doo. What do these movies have in common with the second season of Daredevil: Born Again? Matthew Lillard, probably (hopefully) wearing some kind of iconic costume. It will be the actors first foray into the Marvel universe, joining the existing cast of Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), and Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), and his role remains a mystery. So much so, that back in May, all he was allowed to say about it to ComicBook in an exclusive interview was this: โI think that Marvel clamps down even harder than Star Wars, but I will say I am in the universe. It’s kind of a small role right now, but hopefully people like it, and they bring him back in some capacity.โ

Daredevil details set aside for the time being, Lillard took to the stage at LACC and let the audience know what he was really hoping for in the future, saying, “If you run into James Gunn, tell him I’m available…I keep waiting for that invitation. I don’t know if it’s lost in the mail.”
Who Matthew Lillard Could Play In The DCU
Thatโs a tall order, especially considering that Lillard is also returning to the insanely iconic Scream franchise in its newest installment, as well as the sequel to Five Nights At Freddy’s, where he will appear with Scream costar, Skeet Ulrich. When asked what he and Ulrich bring to the franchise, he said, โI think that both of us approach fandom with love and admiration and appreciation.โ You canโt really ask for more than that!
So who will Lillard play in the DCU? Your guess is as good as ours. But over on X, there was no shortage of opinions on which mantles the actor should take up. Everything from Manbat, to Hal Jordan, to The Riddler, or Eobard Thawne were thrown out there. Obviously, the Joker was brought up, and Lillard certainly has the range to pull that off, potentially making it the portrayal of a lifetime (and gets our vote for Lillard’s potential DCU role of all time).
The loudest suggestion was a Scooby Doo and DCU mash-up, with Gunn back at the helm of the franchise he had formerly brought to life, and which he previously directed Lillard in during his stint as Shaggy.ย
