You can’t have a comic about WWE without featuring the legend himself Ric Flair, and issue #3 is doing just that, at least on the cover.

The third issue of the new BOOM! Studios WWE series features a Wootastic (yep, totally a word) variant cover from artist Felipe Massafera. It features Flair in one of his trademark regal costumes shouting his famous “Woo!” catchphrase, which you can enjoy without the danger of a figure four leg lock. You can view the cover in the gallery.
“Here at Boom! we’re thrilled to be a part of WWE’s return to the comic book medium” said BOOM! Studios editor in chief Matt Gagnon. “The WWE Universe is a passionate fanbase, and we aim to provide them with the comic series they’ve always wanted โ a series featuring their favorite Superstars and storylines, a series that highlights the incredible history of the brand. An authentic series that matters.”
ComicBook.com recently had the chance to sit down with writer Ross Thibodeaux and artist Rob Guillory, who wrote the New Day storyline in the debut issue. They discussed the natural transition from in-ring competition to the realm of comics.
“Yeah, wrestling is absolutely a live-action comic. And personally, I absolutely love the more ridiculous aspects of wrestling. I especially like the idea that these WWE characters are walking around in their daily lives, doing their laundry, paying their bills, all in-character. Tapping into that felt like a no-brainer, especially when the characters are as clearly defined as these are. In the case of The New Day, we loved the idea of Xavier, Big E and Kofi running their own camp, complete with Unicorn merit badges. And given the more magical, Unicorn-centric aspect of New Day, that opened the possibilities for how insane the story could be.”
Issue #3 lands in comic stores in March of 2017.
