There seems to be a great deal of crossover between the WWE and the UFC these days, with competitors in both companies looking to the other for possible opportunities. Rumors have been circulating for awhile now that UFC top dog Conor McGregor was being courted for a WWE appearance of some kind, and a new report says he’s given his answer.

In a report from The Sun, it seems WWE representatives approached McGregor about making an appearance at WrestleMania 33 later this year. Their sources say “WWE has made no secret of its desire to do something with Conor McGregor and there were talks between the two parties about this year.” Evidently, WWE representatives made a sizable offer to the outspoken champion, something along the lines of “name your price”.

McGregor is currently taking time off from the UFC to be with his wife as they prepare to be parents later this year. It seems despite the large sum, McGregor said no. “Because he’s taking time off from the UFC, there was a talk about doing something at this year’s Wrestlemania in April, but it wasn’t to be despite a hefty offer.”

WWE hasn’t officially confirmed or denied the report, and honestly, they probably won’t. Just because this offer might not have been accepted doesn’t mean the two won’t work together in the future.

That also probably means he’s out for any sort of Royal Rumble surprise appearance, so expect those betting odds to change. The Royal Rumble airs on the WWE Network this Sunday.
