Forget everything you thought you knew about Wrestlemania 33. Most WWE fans had already penciled in Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg, Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns and John Cena vs. The Undertaker as three certainties, but things are apparently changing in a huge way.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE has changed course and altered some of its original plans for the biggest pay-per-view of the year:
“There’s been an overhaul of aspects of the WrestleMania card in the last couple days, but I don’t know what’s the new card. A lot of the stuff that was going to happen, is not going to happen, and they’re redoing a lot of the stuff right now.”
If Monday night was any indication, WWE is considering several different options to determine which card will give the fans the best Wrestlemania possible. Considering what we know now, here are the three biggest matches on the table for Roman Reigns.
Goldberg vs Roman Reigns
At the end of RAW, it was clear there were two generational stars in the ring. While Goldberg’s interaction with Owens and Jericho was great, when Roman Reigns entered the ring and faced off with the WCW legend, it was electric. The WWE would get the most out of Goldberg’s return if he is allowed to work with and put over a new era star like Roman Reigns. If Goldberg faces Lesnar at Mania, we know Lesnar is getting his win back. While the match sells itself, it doesn’t have the same intrigue that a Goldberg vs Reigns match would, especially if Reigns is holding the Universal championship heading into Mania.ย
John Cena vs Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns was involved in a fairly benign twitter battle with Kevin Owens last week. Considering Owens is the master of Twitter, this was little surprise. What was a surprise, was when John Cena took to Twitter to goย after Roman Reigns.ย

Now you know this was not accidental or off the cuff. Everything a seasoned company man like John Cena does is intentional. Also notice how Cena finished his tweet with his new signature, #Recognize. The WWE has been leaning Cena down a different path since his return and this edgier version who is sick of the “new era BS” is ideally suitedย for targeting the new era’s golden boy.ย

Undertaker vs Roman Reigns
There have been rumors floating for some time that the WWE is considering the benefits of giving Undertaker his final match against a superstar that will carry the torch into the next generation. While a Cena Taker dream match is a no brainer, Roman Reigns could do more longer with being able to say he was the one who retired the Undertaker.ย
We now know that Taker will be returning to RAW next Monday instead of his usual homebase of Smackdown. It’s likely that Taker will be announcing his entry into the 2017 Royal Rumble. If Taker does enter and win the Rumble he would be free to challenge either brand’s champion. Assuming Reigns does defeat Kevin Owens at the Rumble, a match with Taker could be on the horizon for the former Shield standout.ย
Which Wrestlemania opponent do you think would be the best match for Roman Reigns?ย
