Iron Fist will have a few more villains to fight than his Defenders teammates. In an interview on IGN's livestream, Joe Quesada discussed how Iron Fist differed from the other Marvel/Netflix television shows. "I would say that Iron Fist has probably more villains in our first season than any of our other shows," Quesada said.

Both Jessica Jones and Daredevil have focused on season long arcs involving only a villain or two. Daredevil has squared off against the Kingpin and the Hand, while Jessica Jones spent her first first season fighting the mechinations of Kilgrave. Luke Cage's first major opponents appear to be updated versions of Cottonmouth and Black Mariah.

Quesada declined to give details about who Iron Fist will face on the show, but Marvel previously announced the casting of Harold Meachum and his children Joy and Ward, all of whom have been antagonists in the Iron Fist comics. Daredevil fans may also remember that Madame Gao's heroin was marked with Steel Serpent's symbol, perhaps teasing that Iron Fist's rival Immortal Weapon could also appear on the show.

Iron Fist's first season will be released on Netflix in early 2017.
