If there’s one thing fans can count on, it is James Gunn’s love of social media. The acclaimed filmmaker is known for his Internt savvy skills that he uses to speak one-on-one with fans. Of course, this kind of visibility has led James to get all kinds of repeat questions – but now the filmmaker is taking a stand against those persistent asks. The director just uploaded a list of “really” frequently asked questions to his Facebook page.
Uploaded earlier today, James said he plans to link back to this FAQ post in the future to answer those questions which he finds passe. Unsurprisingly, many of the questions James tackles in the post are focused on Guardians of the Galaxy and his other work as a writer and director. For instance, the first question on the post tackles Vin Diesel’s ability to voice Baby Groot. James addresses those who continue to ask him how the actor’s deep voice will pair with Groot’s new form, saying, “Vin is an actor and capable of doing many voices. His Carol Channing is famous in Hollywood.”

Naturally, the FAQ is littered with witty quips as James aims to mirror the sort of online slang seen today. Complete with ‘LOLs’ and unnecessary cap locks, the post answers each of its questions with an informative yet amused tone. Take for example the answer to the question, “Does baby Groot stay baby Groot for all of Guardians Vol. 2?” James responds with the Internet-approved answer of, “Haha look at that cute thing my cat is doing.”
As for now information, the director explains the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will premiere sometime before Christmas. Earlier this year, James did tell fans he appreciated fans’ eagerness over the footage but that he had little control over its release. “The schedule for the trailers has been decided upon and no matter how many times you request on social media that they come out faster – which has lately been happening dozens of times a day – what is done is done,” he said.
The director has also addressed a few other rumors about the film. Following an alleged spoiler leak on Reddit, the director took to Twitter to say the “stuff is truly made-up bulls**t.” Aside from any information James already confirmed, the director said the thread was all but bunk.
And, when it comes to Guardians of the Galaxy, there’s one particular theory which Gunn wanted to address in his FAQ. The director nodded back to the first film when Star Lord jumped out of a stolen aircraft to fish Gamora out of space. Free-floating, the hero was able to transfer over his hi-tech face mask to the feared assassin before she suffocated. Fans, however, have bashed James for the scene due to its so-called scientific inaccuracy. So, the director took time to explain the scene today.
“He blew all the air out of his lungs. You can stay alive in outer space for a short while if you don’t have air in your lungs,” he explained. “The scene is in slow-motion, so it’s longer than it seems. AND Rocket clearly says there’s some atmosphere outside of Knowhere – just because there’s no gravity doesn’t mean there’s zero atmosphereโฆ.It is science.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
