Over on Facebook, Debbie Reynolds posted this message to her profile. “Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carries Mother,” she wrote.

Many will be familiar with Debbie Reynolds thanks to her own prolific acting career. The starlet had her first breakout role in the 1950 film Three Little Words and continued to act after having her first child. After marrying Eddie Fisher in 1955, Carrie was born in October 1956 before her younger brother was born.

Right now, everyone’s thoughts and prayers are with Fisher’s family and loved ones during this trying time. Fisher is survived by her daughter Billie Lourd. In the coming days, fans will learn more about Fisher’s passing and what it means for the Star Wars franchise. Sources have confirmed that Carrie Fisher did wrap shooting on Star Wars: Episode VIII prior to her passing, but for now, fans are taking their time to mourn the tragic loss and honor Fisher’s enduring legacy.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is written and directed by Rian Johnson, continuing the saga films. Star Wars expands their universe with Rogue One, the first of their new standalone movies that take place without a focus on anyone named Skywalker.
