Nintendo is shoveling more coal into the Nintendo 2DS hype train following the launch of the New Nintendo 2DS XL. The New 2DS XL has made waves, but that doesn’t mean that it’s your only option when considering a 2D handheld. The Nintendo 2DS is still alive and well, and this summer Nintendo is offering a brand new Nintendo 2DS bundle at a new low price.

On August 25, those of you who are still waiting to jump into the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS family will find a very handsome white and red Nintendo 2DS with New Super Mario Bros. 2 pre-installed for only $79.99. The Nintendo 2DS on its own is typically $79.99, and New Super Mario Bros. 2 is still a $30 game, so this is effectively the lowest price we’ve ever seen a 2DS system. If you wanted to go really cheap you can find refurbished 2DS systems on Nintendo’s site for $60, but for $20 more, you can snag one brand new with a game installed. That’s a pretty sweet deal!
“Nintendo 2DS is the ideal system for parents that want to introduce their kids to the creative world of Nintendo that they grew up with,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Its budget-friendly price and huge library of games will provide hours of entertainment for the whole family โ whether after school, on the weekends or even while traveling.”
Nintendo also revealed in a press release this morning that Monster Hunter Stories will be getting a special demo very soon! “Monster Hunter Stories serves as an introduction to the popular franchise, which finds you discovering and customizing the skills of a wide variety of fantastical beasts. A free demo for Monster Hunter Stories will be available in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS on Aug. 10.”
The 3DS and 2DS are still very much alive, baby! There’s seriously never been a better time to jump in. With a mind-boggling library of world-class games for the 3DS and even the DS, I guarantee that with one of these systems you have at least half a decade’s worth of incredible gaming on the way — no matter what types of games you enjoy!
