Since Riverdale's debut fans have hoped that teenage spell-caster Sabrina Spellman would make an appearance on The CW drama and they've been vocal about wanting to see Dove Cameron in the role. But did fan casting just become real casting?

Earlier this week Cameron shared an Instagram post featuring the teenage witch just chilling on a couch with simply a telephone emoji for a caption. Check out the photo below.

The Sabrina post is definitely not the norm for Cameron's Instagram page which usually features selfies or glam photos of the Descendants 2 star and the phone emoji is even more interesting as there isn't anything telephone-related in the picture. Is Cameron trying to say that she's received the call that she's going to be joining Riverdale?

While that's what Cameron's fans are reading into the post it's important to remember that nothing has been confirmed regarding Sabrina joining Riverdale or that Cameron has snagged the role. However, from everything we've seen so far about the show's upcoming second season a little bit of witchcraft might fit in very well. A promotional poster for the second season not-so-subtly spells out the word "die" and Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge on the show, has said that the show has "submerged" into the thriller genre, making for a "terrifying" season two.

And if a darker season two along wasn't enough Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who just so happens to also write the comic book Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, previously told ComicBook.com that not only have they thought about adding her to the show before, but that Riverdale would be seeing supernatural elements.

"We are going to continue exploring the idea of the supernatural being on the fringes of Riverdale, and that might lead up to Sabrina's arrival or that might just be to make it more like Twin Peaks and the way they dealt with the supernatural," Aguirre-Sacasa said.

Barring an official casting announcement fans will just have to see if Sabrina — and Cameron — makes Riverdale home when the show returns on Wednesday, October 11th.
