Last year, Electronic Arts made a statement regarding their Star Wars Battlefront II title that was predictably met with more than a few jokes when the CFO, Blake Jorgensen, told consumers that one of the reasons they chose a wider scale of microtransactions, like actual boosts that give players advantages in multiplayer, instead of just cosmetic options is because no one wants Pink Darth Vader. Well, that's where you're wrong, pal - and now we've got one, and he is fabulous.

To original statement, for those curious, that Jorgensen made was: "The one thing we're very focused on and [Lucasfilm are] extremely focused on is not violating the canon of Star Wars. Darth Vader in white probably doesn't make sense, versus in black. Not to mention you probably don't want Darth Vader in pink. No offense to pink, but I don't think that's right in the canon," which naturally means the modder also notated that a Darth Vader in white was also coming soon.

The mod listing is short and sweet, but does not lack for sass. Instead of a long prelude in their description, the modder simply has the above image with Jorgensen's quite alongside the simple tagline, "For those who may not be necessarily concerned about "canon" in their Star Wars video game."

Not all heroes wear capes, and not all Vaders wear black. It's 2018, people - it's time.

In all seriousness, we can understand wanting to keep a game canon. That being said, a game like Battlefront II already breaks canon on multiple fronts, including basic character selection. Know that, and knowing that character customization is something that the gaming community is very vocal in their love for, a Pink Vader (for example) is not going to break the game. It seemed to be a cheap deflection for being called out about cosmetic items and why EA continues to misuse the implementation of microtransactions.

You can get your own Pink Vader right here at Nexus Mods - in the meantime, Star Wars Battlefront II is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
