Those untold years of Aki’s life are filled with so many potential stories, from his early training days to watching his heart slowly harden as he learns to survive as a Devil Hunter.

A spinoff focusing on Aki could finally let us see his transformation up close, especially how the Gun Devil massacre, where he saw his house being destroyed and his family being killed, turned him into the warrior we know and love today. Exploring his bond with Himeno would be just as important; how it began, what their lives were like before and during their time as Devil Hunters, the sacrifice she made by giving her body to the Ghost Devil to save Aki in Episode 8, and maybe even a few lighter moments between them. Filling in these gaps would elevate Aki’s already heartbreaking arc and remind fans why Aki is one of Chainsaw Man’s most loved characters.

Chainsaw Man focuses less on the “who” of Makima and more on the “what” of her character, leaving us with only small hints about the villain’s past.
