Dandadan returned with its second season in Summer 2025 and quickly became one of the hottest anime series of the year. The latest season unraveled the mystery behind the Cursed House before moving on to the Evil Eye Arc, where Momo and the others struggle to keep Jiji under control after he becomes possessed. Amid the chaos, the season ends on a major cliffhanger just before concluding the Kaiju Arc, which introduces two new characters, Kinta Sakata and Vamola. The third season is expected to adapt the Space Globalists Arc, which is both the best in the series so far and the longest. Naturally, the studio will require more time for the upcoming season.

It was already a pleasant surprise for Season 2 to arrive only six months after the first season ended, but anime series usually take at least a year or two to release new installments, no matter how popular they are. Even so, the Season 3 confirmation announcement didnโt provide so much as a hint about a release window. While the anime makes fans wait longer for Season 3, the only way to stay engaged with the story is to continue reading the manga, where events have already progressed significantly. However, even the manga seems headed toward a less-than-desirable situation that continues to drag out the long-anticipated confession between Momo and Okarun.
Dandadan Has Been Delaying the Confession for Over a Year Already

After the release of Dandadan Chapter 159 on July 1st, 2024, the community went into shambles after Okarunโs heartfelt confession to Momo. The Danmara Arc was just entering its final phase when Okarun and Momo had to be separated so that he could defeat the Fairy-Tale Card. Not wanting to be apart from Momo again, Okarun boldly declared his love for her before separating. Momo, although happy with his confession, asked him to express his feelings properly once she was free from the cursed trunk.
Okarunโs confession could hardly be considered shocking, since the series has repeatedly hinted at the budding romance between him and Momo. Deep down, Okarun must also be aware of Momoโs feelings, but with constant threats looming over their heads, itโs only natural that the pair canโt properly sort out their emotions. However, all hell broke loose once the boy finally gathered the courage to speak his mind. As luck would have it, the moment Momo asked for never truly came to pass.
After the Danmara Arc ended, Momo shrank in size because of a curse. The group tried every possible way to bring her back to normal, but to no avail. In the meantime, everyone, including Momo, had to deal with new threats, which only complicated their situation further. In Chapter 209, Momo ran out of time and disappeared as a result of the curse, since she kept shrinking away. At that moment, a group of masked priests noticed her presence and brought her back to normal, but she paid a steep price for it.
Momo Loses All Memories of Okarun and the Others

Momo reunites with everyone in Chapter 210, but only recognizes her grandmother, Seiko. This means she has forgotten everything she has been through since the story began, including her encounter with Okarun and her growing feelings for him. She has reverted to her old self, stubbornly denying the existence of aliens. Okarun is the one struggling the most to process everything, especially after almost losing her.
Of course, the memory loss is only temporary, and she will regain it before long, but this plot twist only serves to delay the inevitable. After dragging out the confession for over a year, there are still no signs of it being resolved quickly. Thereโs also the possibility that it wonโt happen until the manga enters its final stretch, which may not be too far away. The series has been running for over four years, which is typically the point when newer Shonen Jump titles begin moving into their final phase.
However, this doesnโt necessarily mean the manga will end right after entering that stage, as it usually takes several months, or even more than a year, to wrap up the story. If Dandadan follows the same trend as other Shonen Jump series and concludes before reaching Chapter 300, fans may have to bid farewell to it within the next couple of years.
