As reported by Anime News Network, Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc is set to premiere on January 7, 2018. The anime will repeat on Friday evenings as well. NHK Japan also released a new visual and character designs offering a look at the now junior-high aged characters.
A new promotional video for the anime will debut on September 22nd during the ongoing reruns of selected Cardcaptor Sakura episodes.
Cadcaptor Sakura is one of the all-time most popular shojo franchises and fans have been waiting for the anime to return to the small screen. The greatly anticipated series will feature a returning original cast. Director Morio Asaka, who directed the first series as well as two films is also returning.
The original Cardcaptor Sakura anime first debuted in 1998 and was considered a hit. Its manga was first published in 1996 and ran for four years, selling more than 12 million copies. Tokyopop translated the series into English and Dark Horse has released an onimbus format of the series. Back in June, fans were treated to a new Cardcaptor Sakura manga series following Sakura Kinomoto after her graduation from Tomoeda Elementary School and is the manga CLAMP is bading the new anime series on.
