The company has exponentially grown in the last year, and the press release reports that it is now the largest online home for anime. Crunchyroll reports to having over one million paid subscribers, and 20 million registered users, and 800 titles. This is exciting for anime fans because with the growth of the company comes more and more titles available for the users.

The company will be partnering with LeftField media to launch its new anime convention named Crunchyroll Expo (CRX) this year. On the LeftField team is Peter Tatara, who was formerly the New York Anime Festival and show manager of Anime NYC. The convention is set to take place in Santa Clara, California at the Santa Clara Convention Center, August 25-27.

The event will feature other partners and publishers from the anime community as well, but so far there has been no specific names. Adam Sheehan, Crunchyroll’s Director of Events, commented that the goal of the convention is to follow a different model from other anime conventions.

He stated, “you’re going to see some things that have not been done before at anime cons, some things that have been done but we’re going to do it differently, and some of the fan favorites that people continue to enjoy brought back either in different ways, or more broadly and more extensively for the fans.”

Crunchyroll has launched a website for the event with a sign up for more information on the upcoming convention. The site states that the convention will feature exhibits, screenings, panels, and guest appearances by some of the biggest personalities in Japan and the US and that it will celebrate anime, manga, games, guests, cosplay, and more.

There will also be a new Anime NYC convention coming this November, hosted by LeftField Media and sponsored by Crunchyroll. However rather than just sponsoring Crunchyroll Expo, it will be owned and operated by the company itself.
