When it comes to manga, it seems like some series just never end. Western comics are known for carrying its heroes through the decades, and Japan is no different. Rather than giving heroes new runs and titles to explore, manga tends to take its leads on one massive journey which can span over 20 years. So, really, it’s not surprising to hear that some fans just haven’t been able to keep up.

JoJoโs Bizarre Adventure
If you haven’t read any of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, then you are in for one long haul. The series was first published back in December 1986, and it is still on-going. So far, 905 chapters of the manga have been published and compiled into 118 volumes. Clearly, creator Hirohiko Araki never wants to see the supernatural shonen end.ย

Bleach
When Tite Kubo first began publishing Bleach back in July 1990, there is no way the artist could have know how big the story would get. Weekly Shonen Jump took a chance on the series, and the magazine housed 706 chapters of Bleach before it ended in 2016. There are 74 volumes of the series total, so a complete collection is a bit hard to come by unless you’ve got some cash lying about.

Kochikame
There is no telling how long it would take someone to read all of Osamu Akimoto’s Kochira Katsuhika-ku Kameari. The long-winded manga title is not even half as long as the series actually spans. Created in September `1976, Akimoto’s manga ended last September and has nearly 2,000 chapters. If you want to check out all the volumes, you will need to save up for all 200 of them.

Detective Conan
Want to read about the world’s most precocious child detective? Well, you better have a seat then. It will take a while. For anyone wanting to read Detective Conan, you have about 980+ chapters to catch up on. Gosho Aoyama’s series is divided up into 91 volumes if that makes it easier thoughโฆ

One Piece
While One Piece is not the longest manga out there today, it is one of the most popular. Eiichiro Oda’s shonen tale is one which has amassed millions of fans around the globe – and it is less than 60% finished. Right now, there are about 850 chapters of One Piece published, equating to about 85 volumes. If you want to read about Luffy, it is doable, but you might go blind after taking in all that print. So, read responsibly.
