When a fight involves Big Mom, fans can be sure someone is going to get hurt. The Yonko is one of One Piece's biggest villains yet, but the Straw Hat crew managed to avoid any injures during its latest run-in with her. Well, for the most part at least.

After all, it looks like the Thousand Sunny was unable to maneuver around Big Mom's wrath.

Weekly Shonen Jump published its newest chapter of One Piece just before the New Year, and Eiichiro Oda gave fans a chapter worth celebrating. Chapter 890 saw the Straw Hat crew minus Luffy fend off Big Mom when the Yonko tried to board their ship. So, it's not too surprising to hear the Thousand Sunny got roughed up a bit.

When the chapter began, Big Mom tried to climb aboard the Thousand Sunny after she rode over the seas with Zeus. Jinbe was the first pirate to stand in Big Mom's way, but he could not hold her off for long. Big Mom came back with a second devastating blow, and it made direct contact with the Thousand Sunny. Nami and Chopper were blown back when Big Mom's sword hit the ship, and the attack cleaved through part of Sunny's upper-deck.

Of course, it wasn't just Big Mom and her attacks the crew had to worry about. Big Mom was all aflame when she approached the Sunny, and her fiery hair caught the ship's masts on fire.

"This is bad," Brook could be heard saying. "The flame on Big Mom's head is spreading to the sails!!"

Just when Brook started to panic about the fire, Jinbe used her powers to douse the ship in water. The pirate took that moment to land a powerful blow on Big Mom which pushed her from the Sunny, but the battle is not over yet. The crew may have been able to retreat this time, but Big Mom is chasing after them with Prometheus, and there is only so much stress the Sunny can take before it cracks. So, the team better start apologizing to Franky now.

Eiichiro Oda's One Piece first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997. It has been collected into 87 volumes, with a few chapters yet to be included. It has been a critical and commercial success worldwide with many of the volumes breaking printing records in Japan. The manga has even set a Guinness World Record for the most copies published for the same comic book by a single author, and is the best selling manga series worldwide with 430 million copies sold worldwide.
