Studio MAPPA’s Darkest Anime Reveals Release Window With Brand New Trailer

There’s a good reason why Studio MAPPA has become such a big name in the anime world. To date, the production house has been responsible for heavy hitters such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan’s final season, Vinland Saga season two, Chainsaw Man, and too many others to count. Amongst the many anime projects under the studio’s umbrella, the story of Gabimura and his travels on the twisted island of Shinsenkyo might be MAPPA’s most brutal. Following a blood-soaked first season, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku has revealed the release window for season two, along with a new trailer hinting at what is to come.

Earlier today, it was confirmed that the long-awaited return of Hell’s Paradise would make its debut in January of next year. The first season debuted in 2023 with thirteen episodes to its name, meaning that fans will have to wait around three years to see if Gabimaru will survive his encounters on the twisted island. In the new trailer, anime fans can see that quite a few new characters are preparing to set foot on the monster-infested locale. Luckily, MAPPA has confirmed the new actors joining the cast and the characters that they will be bringing to life in 2026.

Hell’s Paradise is Growing

When it comes to the new voice actors joining the cast, here’s a breakdown of the new recruits and the characters that they’ll be bringing to life next year:

  • Ryota Suzuki (Dr. Stone) – Shugen
  • Koji Yusa (Blue Exorcist) – Jikka
  • Maaya Uchida (Grand Blue Dreaming) – Kiyomaru
  • Sayaka Ohara (Fairy Tail) – Isuzu

So, where did we last leave Gabimaru when it came to Hell’s Paradise season one? Well things were going from bad to worse for the fire-wielding ninja as he began to discover that the effects of the island were having unexpected effects on his mind. Meanwhile, the rest of the cast was attempting to take down the Tensen, the immortal beings who were benefitting from the monster-rich environment of Shinsenkyo. Defeating a Tensen was no easy feat, as the immortal villains could transform and seemingly had few weak points that our heroes could target. With the freed prisoners still seeking the elixir of life to save their own skins, the latest trailer proves that things appear to only be heating up in the MAPPA-animated series.

Surprisingly enough, some of Hell’s Paradise’s biggest competition next January is coming from MAPPA itself. The production house plans on releasing the next season of Jujutsu Kaisen, season three, early in 2026, meaning that Gabimaru and Yuji Itadori will be going head-to-head with one another. Next month, MAPPA plans on bringing Chainsaw Man The Movie: The Reze Arc to North America, showing how stretched the studio has become in recent years. As Studio MAPPA continues making a name for itself with some of the biggest and most brutal anime around, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku might take the cake for the creepiest, bloodiest story in the studio’s roster.
