For those not familiar with Tokyo Ghoul, the series focuses on a student named Ken Kaneki (Kubota) who meets a girl named Rize (Aoi) at a cafe. They quickly form a friendship, but Kaneki is unaware of what Rize really is. Rize is what is known as a ghoul, a creature that survives by consuming human flesh. Kaneki ends up with with a transplanted organ from Rize, turning him into a ghoul in the process. It is here that Kaneki learns about the world behind the facade he's been living in all these years, and it turns out he has so much to learn.
The movie is based on the Tokyo Ghoul manga created by Sui Ishida, which has spawned a successful anime series as well.
