Yu-Gi-Oh! Creator Illustrates Yugi And Kaiba’s Future Together

If you are a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh!, then you know the franchise has one very important rivalry going on. The original anime introduced fans to characters Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba, two Duel Monsters players who strived to become the game’s top players. Over the years, the two rivals have continued to push each other, leading them to clash in sometimes violent ways. After Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters ended, anime fans got occasional updates about the duo until the recent Yu-Gi-Oh! movie gave fans a full-on look into their lives. And, now, the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! is giving fans all the feels with an illustration of the pair four years after Dark Side of Dimensions wrapped.

Taking to Instagram, Kazuki Takahashi posted a stunning image of Yugi and Kaiba playing a surprisingly calm game together. The elaborate image shows the two players sitting across from one another as they play a new form of Duel Monsters. The hi-tech arena is an enclosed one and has taken on an intergalactic scale. The artist penned a lengthy caption explaining the duo’s future which you can read below:

“It is a little future illustration of [the] theater version story. Four years have passed since the graduation ceremony. Yugi won a prize at the World Game Contest and began to walk [towards becoming] a game creator. Yugi’s game is highly [praised], and Kaiba Corporation will start joint development [on it].

A prototype of [the] sphere-type fight game [is known as] Sphere II which Yugi completed. Now, fighting begins with hippocampus and Yugi.”

Continuing, Kazuki wrote, “That is one story of the future. Thank you for supporting Yu-Gi-Oh! the Movie this year! It was good that I could draw illustrations of Kaiba at the same time as I was concerned about the future of the game!”

If seeing the two former enemies playing a peaceful match of Duel Monsters doesn’t make you feell all warm and fuzzy, then what will? The aged-up characters look sleeker than ever, and fans will no doubt want to see this kind of story played out in an anime one day.
