Born in September 1965, Jim was born in Chicago to parents Anna Mae and Roberts. He was raised in the suburbs of Des Plaines and Arlington Heights before attending the University of Evansville. From there, Jim went onto managed in-house computer graphics at a studio overseen by MCA/Universal and made the move into television production.
Jim began work on his first series at NBC with Midnight Caller before moving onto projects like Charlie Grace and The Guardian. However, the producer is best known for his work on series like Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Everybody Hates Chris, and Supernatural.
Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, The New Adventures of Superman starred Dean Cain and Teri Hatches as Clark Kent and Lois Lane respectively. The show aired from 1993-1997 and focused on a modern origin of DC Comics’ famous hero. The series centered on the budding romance between Clark and Lois, spawning off several tie-in novels.
Most recently, Jim turned his attention to The CW to work on Supernatural. The popular fantasy horror series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as two brothers who hunt all sorts of supernatural beasts. Jim took over production on the show after the former executive producer Kim Manners passed away from lung cancer during Season 4. When the series returned for Season 5, Jim came on board to oversee production.
Happy birthday!
