Dana Schwartz of EW posted a screen capture from Justice League that shows a close up of Henry Cavill's Superman, freshly returned from the dead and sporting a CGI upper lip — the result of Cavill's commitments to the upcoming Mission: Impossible 6.

When Cavill was recruited for reshoots on Justice League, it was mid-shoot on the latest installment of Paramount's action-packed spy franchise — where Cavill's character sports a serious 'stache. This meant expensive CGI touch up on Cavill's clean shaven Superman, to the tune of millions of dollars of mustache-removal-VFX work.

Earlier this summer, industry experts explained in-depth the process that would go into using computers to remove Cavill's contractually obligated facial hair, but Cavill explained his digital shave wasn't as much of a hairy situation as originally believed.

"It's nothing to cover it up," Cavill said. "What we do is we try to put it back on the top lip as much as possible. So they kind of wax it up. And then I had dots all over my face. And they try to put dots, which are barely visible, sort of in the various points on the face where you would see them during normal… not face replacement, but whatever CGI aspect they may be applying to a face. And yeah. I was covered in dots, and had a big mustache. It was definitely a new look for Superman."

Starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher and Amy Adams, Justice League is now playing.
