Yesterday was an important day at the box office for DC Entertainment, as Warner Bros.' Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has crossed the $300 million mark at the domestic box office, inching closer to eclipsing Iron Man and Iron Man 2 and a potential spot in the ten highest-grossing comic book movies of all time.
Perhaps more importantly, the film has now made $800 million globally, passing the point where many analysts say it is now technically profitable for the studio.
Today, the film should officially cross the $500 million mark at the global box office; it's currently sitting at $499.6 million.
The film has had steep drops in its second and third weekends -- and will likely continue to fall this week as a major blockbuster opens up for the first time since Batman V Superman hit -- but is also earning fairly consistently, and continuing to perform overseas, making it fairly easy to project a handful of big benchmarks as they've come over the last week or so.
Passing Man of Steel at both the global and domestic box office already, Batman V Superman is now the highest-grossing Superman film on record, but it's unlikely to touch The Dark Knight or The Dark Knight Rises, both of which grossed over $1 billion globally.
