The DC Extended Universe first brought Parademons to theaters with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but fans haven’t see the last of them. The baddies were featured in the famous ‘Knightmare’ sequence where Batman took on Superman in a post-apocalyptic world. Fans will get another look at the demons whe Justice League hits, and one concept artist is giving audiences a close-up of the aliens.

Over on Instagram, production designer Patrick Tatopoulos shared his original concept art of the Parademons for Batman v Superman. The artwork doesn’t appear to vary much from their DCEU debut, but fans do love the design’s gorier look.

If you are not familiar with the Parademons, then you have a long history to catch up on. The characters are known as foot soldiers for the villain Darkseid. Parademons do the bidding of the intergalactic baddie, and they are bred for the sole purpose of war. Jack Kirby created the beasts back in 1971, and Parademons have a long history with the Justice League.

Most recently, fans may remember the creatures for their appearance in Justice League: War. The film launched a new continuity time line for the DC Animated Universe following the New 52 comic re-launch, and the Parademons were nasty.

With the extraterrestrials set to make a comeback in Justice League, fans will want to pay close attention to the Parademons. The horde’s presence hints at the eventual appearance of Darkseid himself; Steppenwolf is slated to appear in the first Justice League venture as its main antagonist, so the overlord could always make an appearance in the franchise’s second-half.

It may be a while before Darkseid steps into the DCEU, but fans can look forward to the return of the Parademons. Executive producer Deborah Snyder has said the aliens will play a major role in Justice League and sport some new looks. Concept art of the creatures were also shown, and the pieces saw the Parademons nesting on Stryker’s Island. The Justice League crew is shown arriving at the island to hunt for missing S.T.A.R. Labs scientists, and the team runs right into a battle when the Parademons awaken.
