For tonight’s episode of Supegirl, which is titled “Alex,” The CW has released a pair of sneak peeks as well as a featurette that has co-executive producer Jessica Queller and executive producer Robert Rovner previewing Alex’s abduction and the Kara-Maggie dynamic.

“All along, we’ve seen that Supergirl has kept her true identity secret, and one of the reasons that’s so important is to protect the people that are closest to her,” Quell explains in the video above. “Someone has figured out that Kara Danvers is actually Supergirl.”
“Supergirl is used to punching her way out of situations,” Rovner shares, “and Maggie as a police detective is used to talking down– Methodical about it. And so, they both have different approaches to finding her and saving her.”
Quell adds: “So it becomes this sort of an emotional hotbed issue for Kara and Maggie. Whose relationship is primary, and who gets to call the shots in a crisis situation.”
Alex (Chyler Leigh) is kidnapped and the kidnapper threatens to kill her unless Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) releases a notorious criminal from prison. Supergirl and Maggie (Floriana Lima) have always had different approaches to apprehending criminals but this time they must work together to save Alex. Meanwhile, Rhea (guest star Teri Hatcher) has an interesting proposal for Lena (Katie McGrath).

Sneak Peek #1
The sneak peek begins with police surrounding a National City bank that is being robbed. The robbers are still inside, have taken hostages, and Detective Maggie Sawyer is on the phone with one of them, trying to talk them into surrendering.
“You don’t have to hurt anyone,” she says. “No one is making you do this. You’re choosing to do this. You and your friend chose to go into that bank and chose to take those people hostage. You know what? You can choose to put your guns down. You can choose to let those people go. You can choose not to hurt anyone.”
She thinks she is making progress, and then all of sudden Supergirl swoops in and swiftly subdues the criminals and frees the hostages. Maggie is none too pleased.
Sneak Peek #2
In this second clip, Kara receives a phone call from Alex’s captor. She wants to know who she is speaking with, but he has a better question for her.
“Well, the real question is: Who are you?” he says to her. “Everyone around you thinks you’re just a mild-mannered reporter, but I know the truth.”
He then tells Kara that he has Alex in his possession. When she says he is lying, he sends her a photo of an incapacitated Alex lying on a cell floor.
