Swedish MMA Fighter Madeleine Vall To Play An Amazon In Wonder Woman

Egeria 001

Madeleine "Madde" Vall's Instagram page reveals that she has a role in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, starring Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman) and being directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster).

"Madde Vall has just come home after [filming] Wonder Woman in which she plays a small role as an Amazon warrior 'Egeria,'" the post reads (translated to English). "DC Comics superhero Wonder Woman, produced by Warner Bros. to a budget of 150 million dollars, goes up on the big screen in June 2017. In the lead roles are Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Robin Wright (Antiope), Connie Nielsen (Hippolyta), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor) and Norwegian Lisa Loven Kongsli, known from the Tourist (2014)."

Egeria, a lieutenant in the Amazon army, was created by George Pérez and first appeared in Wonder Woman Annual Vol 2 #1 (1988). She isn't a well-known Amazon, but she did sacrifice her life to seal a crack to Hades.

Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot in the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman and Chris Pine as Captain Steve Trevor and Trevor's grandfather. The cast also includes Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, Doutzen Kroes, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Ann Wolfe and Lucy Davis.

Wonder Woman will hit theaters June 2, 2017.
