On September 17th, 2016 comic book stores around the country will be honoring the Batman. They'll do it because he's the hero comic book fans deserves, and the one we needs right now, so we'll honor him. Because he deserves it, because he's a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector, the Batman. (Apologies to Christopher Nolan)

DC Entertainment has announced the return of Batman Day in it's third year. It will celebrate the "endearing legacy with generations of fans, DC Entertainment will once again fete the iconic legend with festivities at thousands of comic book retailers, bookstores, schools and libraries across the country. Retail activities include free comic book giveaways and talent signings. Confirmed signing events feature blockbuster talent like Frank Miller, Scott Snyder, Tom King, James Tynion IV, and Greg Capullo with many more to be announced."

The annual event was introduced to honor the caped crusader on his 75th anniversary and now has become an annual tradition. Previous years saw signings by Dan Jurgens, Jim Lee and many more. This years events will include "Bat-centric promotions, fan giveaways and more, all to honor the character that has become a Super Hero to many generations and continues to inspire fans across the globe."

Among the other publishers joining in on the celebration Capstone Young Readers, Penguin Random House, Scholastic, DK Licensing, Bendon, and HarperCollins. DC will be providing activity sheets, trivia, and games for local stores and institutions.

Bob Kane and Bill Finger created Batman in 1939 and first appeared in Detective Comics #27.
