It's Sonic the Hedgehog's 25th anniversary, and if it wasn't already awesome enough that we'll be getting not one but two great games featuring the Blue Wonder this year (the retro-themed Sonic Mania and the Sonic Generations-esque follow-up Sonic Forces), but First 4 Figures is also offering a cool collectible Sonic figurine that fans shouldn't miss.

The team has introduced the special Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Anniversary figure, which is set on a diorama and features Sonic in a trademark pose, with his legs running at super fast speed. The figure also includes a spinning sign that features Sonic's trademark pose on the front and a Dr. Robotnik (or Eggman) picture on the back. The face plates can actually be changed out, with two additional pictures featuring Sonic and Eggman, if you prefer to go that route.

There will be two versions of the statue available – a regular version, a swell as an exclusive version with the speed "blur" lighting up alongside the goal plates, with spinning lights to indicate that, yep, he's running like crazy!

The video above features the figure in action, with First 4 Figures owner Alex Davis showcasing it. The Sonic diorama definitely looks cool, and should make for an ideal collectible for those fans that haven't given up on the franchise (by terms of putting up with whatever the hell Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric was).

The regular and exclusive figures are actually the same price, running about $384.99, and pre-orders are set to go live this week, starting on June 6th. More than likely, the limited models will, ahem, go fast.

The dimensions for this figure stand at 33cm high X 40cm wide X 22cm depth, and it weighs about 4.7 KG, so it's not really that bad at all. And it's reasonably sized, so you can put it alongside your Sonic game collection and proudly show it off.

It's definitely one of First 4 Figures' most involving designs to date, and another reason to get excited about the year of Sonic. So if you have a few bucks lying around and want to celebrate this iconic hero's anniversary in style, here's how to do it!
