When Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor launched, it was praised for its innovative "Nemesis System," which had players stalked by powerful foes previously slain. You'd defeat a boss, only to see him show up again stronger, more pissed off, and probably immune to whatever trick or strategy you used to defeat him the first time. It added layers of depth, personal lore, and replayability to an already fantastic combat system, and today Warner Bros. revealed that our past nemeses and followers aren't done with us yet -- no, they will be making their way into Shadow of War. Check out the new Nemesis Forge Trailer above for the breakdown.

Say hello to the Nemesis Forge, "a new update for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor that will allow a player to bring their top Nemesis and Follower from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor to Middle-earth: Shadow of War when it releases on October 10, 2017. In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, players created countless personal stories of revenge through the unique enemies and allies generated by the Nemesis System.

"With the Nemesis Forge, these stories continue in Middle-earth: Shadow of War by importing a returning player's arch Nemesis from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, while also identifying a player's most loyal Orc follower, who can help fight and defend against Sauron's forces. The Nemesis Forge is now available for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam."

No nemesis? No problem! Right now you can try Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor for free on Xbox One and Steam. The free trial will last through July 9, and the full version of the game will be able to purchase for dirt cheap on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam for the next week or so. We're talking a few bucks for the full Game of the Year version of Shadow of Mordor, which contains all of the DLC. The game is critically acclaimed for a reason; you're going to love it, and by the time you're finished, you'll have a few ugly rivals ready to meet you again when Shadow of War launches on October 10.
