GTA Online's Massive Doomsday Heist Now Live

Grand Theft Auto Online Doomsday Heist

The immense, free update for Grand Theft Auto Online is now live with the release of The Doomsday Heist.

Revealed during in a slick new trailer that can be seen above, The Doomsday Heist is the game’s first heist event in quite a while. As of Dec. 12, an update for the event is rolling out to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions where players can team up and take on several different world-threatening challenges.

A description of The Doomsday Heist’s storyline from the event’s page helps get players up to speed before taking on the scenario.

“Billionaire entrepreneur Avon Hertz and his pet neural network Cliffford have stumbled upon evidence that nefarious outside forces are working on a plan so diabolical it could end life as we know it. Somehow, Lester Crest is tasked with assembling a team deadly enough - and crazy enough - to do what it takes to bring them down. That’s where you come in. It’s going to take some luck, some firepower and some serious teamwork to take this threat head-on, assisted by Avon’s access to the latest in lethal blue-sky tactical hardware.”

The Doomsday Heist is divided up into three different acts, segments that consist of “multiple ruthless freemode prep missions, tactical setup operations, and experimental weapons and vehicles.” Each one of the acts are also described as having huge finishes that will make the challenges worth completing as players team up with friends to complete the acts.

And in order to make your way through The Doomsday Heist, players are receiving an impressive arsenal of new tools and weaponized vehicles. The Mammoth Thruster jetback will take you high above building without having to worry about calling in your own personal vehicle, upgrades for several weapons will help you take out any opposition, and new vehicles are available such as The Avenger, a floating, turreted force to be reckoned with.

New clothing and customization options as well as vehicle upgrades are also available in The Doomsday Heist that’s now live across all GTA Online platforms.
