The Best Flying Mounts in Palworld for Every Stage of the Game

Since Palworld first released in 2024, the game’s expansive world has only gotten larger. Several free updates have added new islands to explore, giving players new places to go and Pals to catch. But with all that travel, it can be tough to get around. That’s where the game’s mounts come in, helping players move around the map a bit faster.

There are a ton of options when it comes to mountable Pals. If you can craft a saddle for a specific Pal in the technology menu, you can ride it. That means you can hop on many early game Pals like Rushoar and Direhowl, some of the quickest Mount options to unlock. But for many players, a flying mount is the must-have ride in Palworld. To help you choose how to fly around the Palpagos Islands in style, I’m rounding up the best flying mounts for early, mid, and late game adventures in Palworld.

Best Early-Game Flying Mounts for Lower Levels

At the lowest levels in Palworld, you’re going to be grounded. The earliest mounts unlock at around Level 6, but the earliest flying mount options won’t be unlocked until you hit Level 15 in the Technology Menu. So, expect to be grounded until around that time. But once you hit Level 15, you’re ready to fly. Here are the best early-game flying mounts to catch in Palworld.

Best Starter Flying Mount – Nitewing

You can catch a Nitewing in the Grassy Behemoth Hills area at Level 15. This is the earliest flying mount you can unlock, so it’s a great start.

Nitewing’s Base Speed is 600, with a highest Spring Speed of 750. It’s not the fastest low-level flying mount, but it is the one you’ll be able to get the soonest.

Best Overall Low-Level Mount – Vanwyrm

At Level 21, you’ll be able to craft a saddle for Vanwyrm. This Fire/Dark dual-type Pal is certainly a level-up from Nitewing, as it offers an additional skill in the air and has a slightly higher flying speed. You can catch Vanwyrm at the Ravine Entrance area.

Vanwyrm increases your damage potential while you’re riding it as a mount. It has a base speed of 700 and a spring speed of 850, making it the best overall low-level flying mount in Palworld.

Best Mid-Game Flying Mounts

Once you hit the mid-to-late 30s in Palworld, your flying mount options really open up. There are several solid flying mounts to replace your starter ride at this stage. They won’t quite stack up to the best of the best, but there are some solid flying mounts in the mid levels. Here are some of the best options.

Best Mid-Game Early Upgrade – Beakon

Technically, your first option to upgrade to a mid-game mount arrives with Helzephyr, which can be caught at level 33. However, most Palworld fans agree it’s not really a worthwhile improvement, so you’re better off focusing resources on Beakon. You can get this flying mount at Level 34, in the Deep Sand Dunes area.

Beakon has a Base Speed of 750 and a Spring Speed of 1200, so it’s a good bit faster than the best early game flying mount. It also adds Electric Damage to your attacks while mounted, so Beakon has some combat efficacy as a flying mount for mid-game, too.

Best Mid-Game Combat Flyer – Ragnahawk

Once you hit Level 37, you can and probably should upgrade to Ragnahawk. You can catch one on the Volcanic Island, near Mount Obsidian. It’s a solid speed upgrade from Beakon, so it’s well worth taking the time to grab once you can.

Ragnahawk offers a Base Speed of 800, with a 1300 Sprint Speed. It also adds Fire damage to your attacks while mounted, so you’re still getting that extra elemental boost like with Beakon.

Fastest Overall Mid-Game Flying Mount – Faleris

Faleris is your fastest mid-game option for Flying Mounts. However, it ditches that extra elemental damage. Instead, its skill lets you grab more items from defeated Ice Pals. So, while it’ll get you moving quicker, it may not help you contend with enemies in combat as effectively. You can catch this Pal as a rare spawn on the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary island.

Faleris offers a Base Speed of 1000 and a Sprint Speed of 1400. At full speed, it’s not much faster than Beakon, so in some combat situations, Beakon may make more sense. However, if you need to get somewhere fast or want more loot, Faleris is your guy.

Best Late-Game Flying Mounts for High Levels

Once you hit the higher levels in Palworld, you can really get moving. These late-game flying mounts are some of the best in the game to date, and they’re well worth the grind to unlock.

Earliest Late-Game Flying Mount – Frostallion

As you head into the higher levels, Frostallian will be your best bet for a slight flying speed upgrade. This Legendary Pal is a solid ice-type flying mount that’s fast enough and solid in combat. You can catch it at Level 50 in the Land of Absolute Zero, with its harness unlocked at technology Level 47.

Frostallion offers a Base Speed of 1000 and a Sprint Speed of 1500. So, it’s not much faster than Beakon even at a full spring. However, this Pal brings back in the combat damage, so if you need to go to battle with Pals weak to ice, Frostallion is a great addition to your stable. That said, you’ll want to upgrade to a faster option once you reach the right levels to do so.

Fastest Overall Late-Game Flying Mount – Jetragon

Jetragon is a bit harder to catch these days, after balanced patches moved it up to Level 60. Even so, it’s the fastest flying mount in the game and well worth getting once you can. You can catch Jetragon on Mount Obsidian, but be warned, it’s a tough Alpha Boss Pal. The fight isn’t easy, but it pays off in the form of extreme speed.

Jetragon has a 1700 Base Speed and can get up to 3300 for its Sprint Speed. It also lets you continuously fire off a rocket launcher while flying, which is both fun and effective for dealing damage from the skies. It’s hard to do better than Jetdragon as a flying mount in Palworld, except in one situation – long hauls.

Best Long-Haul Flying Mount – Xenolord

Xenolord may not be as fast as Jetragon, but it offers more overall stamina. So, for longer flights around the Palpagos island, this flying mount may be the way to go. It’s tricky to get, as you can only hatch it from a Huge Dark Egg after beating the Xenolord Raid Boss. And you can only do that by crafting enough Xenolord slabs to summon it.

If you manage to hatch one, Xenolord offers a Base Speed of 1700 when flying, with a Sprint Speed of 2700. It can be upgraded to reach as much as 3240 at Sprint, still a bit slower than Jetragon. That said, it’s got about 3x the stamina, so it’ll be able to go longer distances at only a slightly slower speed.
