Blizzard Sets Guinness World Record Record For Largest Gaming Diorama
BlizzCon 2017 has come to a close and it was riddled with amazing news for fans of the Blizzard [...]
During this year's showcase, the cinematic for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth had long-time fans of the MMO stunned and in awe. The long-standing tension between the two factions finally comes to a head with the return of many beloved characters, while others reclaimed their destiny.
The scene played out to display the Battle for Lordaeron in an effort to showcase the massive scale of the militant feat. With a young King Anduin Wrynn at the head, the Alliance seeks to absolve the wrongs committed by (the epic) Sylvana's and her betrayal that led to the brutal death of their previous king.
To celebrate the big reveal, the above diorama was created using actual players' characters from the popular game. For those attendees that utlised the BlizzCon companion mobile app, they could even use that to spot if their own character made the cut!

Boasting over 10,000 miniature player character models, the epic creation did not go unnoticed. The impressive recreation has officially been awarded the Guinness World Record for the largest video game diorama to date. Well deserved! We covered the event live this year and the pictures do not do it justice. The level of detailing and the expansiveness of this display was a fantastic treat for those long-time World of Warcraft fans. And for those lucky enough to have their characters become a part of it? Well ... isn't that what BlizzCon is about?
Congratulations to Blizzard on the award and yet another fantastic showcase!
