Earlier this week Activision and Treyarch released a full gameplay trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles, and it delivered all the over-the-top fun you’d expect. Crazy weaponry, moon-based mayhem, zombies being squashed by tanks – the trailer mostly delivered the fans were hungry for. That said, the actual maps were somewhat lost amongst all the gore and goofiness. Has Treyarch done a respectable job of renovating them?

Well, the official Call of Duty Twitter account has revealed new videos, which showcase a couple iconic Zombies maps. These videos are brief, but they still provide a better glimpse at these maps than the Zombies Chronicles trailer. First up, we have Nacht Der Untoten, the map that started it all! This map is relatively small and straightforward compared to ones that have come since, but its simplicity is also its strength, as it forces players to really strategize. The updated version features much better lighting and atmosphere.
Next up we have Verruckt, which is located in an abandoned, and very creepy, insane asylum. Verruckt is bigger than Nacht Der Untoten, but it also contains more hallways and tight spaces, which force you into close combat with the undead. This was always a nice-looking map, but it’s definitely been cleaned up and, again, had its lighting significantly improved for Zombies Chronicles. You can check out Verruckt, below.

For those keeping track, in addition to Nacht Der Untoten and Verruckt, Zombies Chronicles also contains the maps Shi No Numa, Kino der Toten, Ascension, Shangri-La, Moon, and Origins. Hopefully we soon get a better look at them, as well.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombie Chronicles shambles onto PS4 on May 16 and PC and Xbox One on June 16. You can check out all WWG’s latest Call of Duty coverage here, and our extensive back catalog of stories, right here.
