Deadly Premonition may be one of the quirkiest – and most entertaining – survival horror games out there. The game came out a few years ago, first for Xbox 360 and then later on a PlayStation 3 with a definitive edition, and has gathered quite a cult following since. And now, its creator wants it to succeed on other medium – board games.

Rising Star Games has announced that it has launched an official KickStarter page for a board game based on Deadly Premonition, a two to four player game that introduces them to the “captivating world and characters of the beloved videogame Deadly Premonition,” according to the product listing.

The game, due for release this June, follows “you and your fellow detectives must take on the task of protecting the innocent, incriminating the guilty and work out who might not be who they say they are. With a hidden killer amongst the detectives, the race is on to identify a suspect as an accomplice in order track down the true killer. “

“The mechanics found in Deadly Premonition are unique and original concepts formed around our vision for the game. Embark on competitive battles to manipulate your own board toward a victory condition, while simultaneously sabotaging your co-detectives. There is also a hidden identity element to shake things up and reward observation and intuition,” the company explained.

Game creator and producer Swery65 posted a video hyping up the forthcoming board game, and it’s appeared to pay off rather big time, as it’s already met its $50,000 goal in a matter of eight hours, and currently sits at nearly $85,000. And those that are interested in the board game can still invest in the KickStarter, as it still has 28 days to go. Meanwhile, you can check out Swery65’s video above.

There’s no doubt that the creators behind the game will try to incorporate its strange and humorous writing style, so that the story relates rather well to those that couldn’t get enough of the original game. More information about the board game adaptation can be found here, for those that want to learn more about it.

Congrats to the team at Rising Star Games on making Deadly Premonition a success yet again. Now, about that sequel…
