It's great that Star Wars: Battlefront II will feature a variety of characters, including a handful of heroes and villains to choose from, along with plenty of droids and Stormtroopers. But what about those that are looking to play as the much-feared Death Troopers? Relax, Star Wars fans – they're in there, too.
Speaking on Twitter, DICE's Dennis Brannvall addressed a fan who was asking about the troopers, wondering if they would be in the game. They asked, "Is the Death Trooper going to be a special character in Star Wars: Battlefront II?" Brannvall simply replied, "Yes!"
Granted, that's about the only confirmation we have on the characters so far, but it appears that they'll be added into the game as a character that can be used once you make enough progress in a multiplayer match, similar to Hero characters in previous games. It's unknown what kind of special abilities they'll be packing either, though heavy marksmanship and the ability to use various weapons is likely expected, since these Death Troopers are usually a cut above the typical Stormtrooper class. (For instance, they can actually hit something?)
We're sure to get more details on this class of soldier in the months ahead, as EA and DICE continue to move along with hyping Star Wars: Battlefront II at forthcoming events. It's very possible we could see more of the game in action as soon as next month, when San Diego Comic-Con rolls around, since the series has always gotten big presence at that event. There's also PAX and other game events, as well as general announcements as the game gets closer to its fall 2017 release.
Here's hoping we get to check them out soon – especially with the forthcoming beta that's sure to be announced, where we'll be able to test these characters out for ourselves. The three day multiplayer test that recently took place at EA Play went over very well with fans, so it's only a matter of time before EA gives us another chance to take these guys for a test drive – including those Death Troopers.
