Destiny 2: Return of the Iron Lord – Iron Banner Event Starts Next Week

It’s a new week for Bungie’s Destiny 2 which means new resets, new events, and new updates. Arguably the biggest update on the way that fans are looking forward to is Iron Banner. This recurring event was a huge hit for the first Destiny title, and is now being officially brought into the sequel. The dates and specifics have both been announced to kick off the Iron Banner event later this week.

“As the first Faction Rally comes to an end, the Iron Lords are hosting the next ritual. Their special event has undergone some changes. The Iron Banner is still your chance to stand and be proven in the fires of friendly competition.

The Iron Banner will kick off on October 10th at 2 AM PT and will run until October 17th until the same time.ย Players can team up with their own friends or use the matching system to be randomly paired – either way, there are coveted rewards waiting for those that come out of the Iron Banner as the victor.ย

One important thing to notate about the upcoming event is that one of the prerequisites requires players to have already completed the Destiny 2 campaign. Once the main narrative wraps up, head to the Tower to speak with Lord Saladin in order to unlock the Iron Banner.

According to Bungie, this is what’s different, how to play, and what are the incentives:ย

What’s different?
  • Combat will be between two teams of four players
  • Your fighting abilities, not your power levels, will decide the outcome
  • Bounties and Ranks have been replaced with an Iron Banner Engram
How can you compete?
  • Complete the Destiny 2 campaign โ€“ the only way to reach the Tower
  • Visit Lord Saladin in the Tower to begin the Iron Banner Quest
  • Fight in the Iron Banner playlist with Quickplay modes and matchmaking
What’s in it for you?
  • Earn Iron Banner Tokens in every match (earn more if you win)
  • Daily and Season* Milestones that track your progress to glory
  • Claim brand new armor wrought in the forges of the Iron Lords

Destiny 2 is out now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a PC release slated for October 24th.
