The day has finally come! Jam City and TinyCo just launched Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow, and you can download it right now on your smartphone. To celebrate the launch of Worlds of Tomorrow we got not one, but two brand new trailers. You can check out the launch trailer above.
"Created in partnership with FUTURAMA creator and Executive Producer Matt Groening and his Curiosity Company, along with Executive Producer David X. Cohen, original FUTURAMA writers, and Rough Draft Studios, Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow blends simulation, combat, galactic exploration, and choose-your-own-adventure gameplay together to bring the escapades of the Planet Express crew to life.
"Players will experience new stories from the writers of FUTURAMA that are filled to the brim with the wit, charm, and sci-fi hijinks that fans have come to know and love."
And speaking of love, it's clear to see that this game was developed with a lot of love and care. Not only do we get a wholly original story, but we're actually treated to the first original Futurama animation since the conclusion of the TV show. What's more, TinyCo announced that the game will be updated regularly with new content and new characters.
So what about the story? We got a brand new story trailer this morning as well. Check it out below.
All Glory to the Hypnotoad!
Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow tells a brand new and wholly original story based around one of the most intriguing and influential peripheral characters in the entire Futurama canon. I'm talking of course about Hypnotoad! Check out the story trailer above to see what this psychedelic toad is up to.
This brand new story was "created by Matt Groening, David X. Cohen, and the FUTURAMA writers. This story sets the stage for a galactic adventure that will take players across the universe in search of ancient alien artifacts to restore the fabric of spacetime after it is transformed by one of the universe's most recognizable yet enigmatic creatures: the Hypnotoad."
"Hypnotoad has always been one of Futurama's most mysterious amphibians," said Matt Groening. "In this game we finally get to learn much more about his bizarre abilities and mating habits. Perhaps too much more."
I'm a huge Futurama fan, so I can't tell you guys how excited I am to veg out after work and dive into this game. So what the heck is up with Hypnotoad, anyway? Is it going to be the main villain? Could a strange plot twist prove that Hypnotoad is actually the only thing holding the universe together? Before we all dive in, cast your vote below and guess whether Hypnotoad is a villain or hero.prevnext
