GameStop is usually pretty good when it comes to its trade-in specials, like boosting anywhere between 20 to 40 percent for pre-orders, or offering massive trade-in deals if you bring in so many games. But its latest special offers up something interesting – a system for a system.

The company has listed a new promotion on its site where you can trade in one sort of game system and get another, pretty much straight across.

The first promotion awards players with a pre-owned Xbox One original model system when they trade in a PlayStation 4 Pro system or a Nintendo Switch console, while the second offers up a pre-owned PlayStation 4 original model system when an Xbox One S 2TB model system or a Nintendo Switch is traded in.

Now, there is an interesting question here – why would people want to technically downgrade to a first-generation machine? Granted, not everyone is crazy about the Nintendo Switch, and the PlayStation 4 Pro has its fair share of troubles when it comes to getting all of its games running smoothly. But it's hard to imagine someone spending so much money on that new hardware, just to go, "You know, I think I would be happier with an older Xbox One."

Surprisingly enough, these people are out there, so don't be surprised if this special offer catches fire with the GameStop community. And there's plenty of time to take advantage of it, too, as it's running from now through July 22nd, giving you lots of time to figure out what to do with the Nintendo Switch that you might not be playing (oddly enough).

There are other promotions as well, including 20 percent extra trade in credit towards Splatoon 2 and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age; as well as an extra 40 percent towards the "Best of E3" titles, such as Call of Duty: WWII, Destiny 2 and NBA 2K18. So you've got some initiatives when it comes to games, even though you might be on the fence when it comes to getting rid of your systems.
