Fans of Tom Clancyโs Ghost Recon series are, unfortunately, accustomed to the initial disappointment that often accompanies the series’ modern releases. Some titles come out in a subpar state, and while they eventually improve, by that time, players have mostly forgotten about them. One of these games, initially released in 2019, is currently on an incredible discount, making it a good time for fans to give it a second chance.
The game is, of course, Tom Clancyโs Ghost Recon Breakpoint, which is running an incredible $54 discount in the Xbox store. Players can pick up the tactical shooter title for over 90% off or only $5.99 while the promotion is running for the next 11 days. This sale might also be a good opportunity for series veterans to get some practice in, especially if the leaks for the next Ghost Recon gameโs release date being near turn out to be true.
Is Breakpoint Worth Getting at This Price?
$5.99 is such a deep discount that it’s hard to argue against someone who wants to try the game out at this price. When it was first released, fan perception wasnโt great, with Comicbook.comโs Charlie Ridgley calling it a sloppy sequel. However, over the years, things have improved substantially thanks to numerous post-release updates and a modding community that keeps things fresh. What was once viewed as a significant step back for the series compared to Tom Clancyโs Ghost Recon Wildlands is now an excellent alternative to lose your time in. It has better graphics than Wildlands, and though it canโt quite compete on the story front, there is still plenty of gameplay to sink hours into.
Set on an open-world island, the game has players running around while leveling up, getting new gear, taking down camps of enemies, and progressing the main plot. While some of these elements feel weaker in Breakpoint, the gameplay loop is solid here, enhanced by features like immersive mode that were added in later updates for players who arenโt a fan of rolling for loot and comparing weapon stats. One of the gameโs greatest strengths is how it empowers players to approach base raids and combat encounters in whatever way they want. Overall, the level of freedom and excellent visuals offered in Breakpoint make it an enjoyable pickup that outweighs most of its flaws, especially at this price. It is worth noting that live service support for the game has ended, and Ubisoft doesn’t have any major plans to add additional content at this point.
Other Deals Breakpoint Fans Should Look Out For
If this deal on Tom Clancyโs Ghost Recon Breakpoint isnโt really speaking to you, or if you already have a copy of the game, then you should check out the sale Xbox is running on other Ubisoft titles. You can currently pick up Assassinโs Creed Shadows for 33% off and the Elite Edition of Tom Clancyโs Rainbow Six Siege X for only $14.99. Breakpoint has a similar kind of feel to an Assassinโs Creed game, thanks to its emphasis on stealth, and Rainbow Six is right in the same sort of tactical shooting wheelhouse. Assassinโs Creed Shadows has been receiving extra support from Ubisoft lately, with the addition of a roadmap and features that players have been asking for.
What are your feelings on the forgotten Tom Clancy game, Breakpoint? Do you feel that it has improved enough since its initial release to recommend picking up as part of this sale?
